Meet Sydney - A Faith-Based Doula from Winston Salem, NC, operating around the Triad Area of NC

Hi, I’m Sydney, a faith-based birth doula with a heart for serving and encouraging women through one of the most transformative times in life: childbirth. I am located in Winston-Salem, NC, and serve the greater Triad area. My journey into birth work began long before I ever stepped into a delivery room; it started with my own birth story.

In 1998, my mother desired a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) for her second birth. At a time when doulas were not widely known or common, she hired one. That decision made all the difference. With the support of her doula, my mom had a successful, all-natural VBAC, and I am the living testimony of that beautiful experience. Growing up, I cherished hearing the story of my birth and the impact that the doula had on my mom's heart. That story stayed with me and planted a seed that has now grown into my calling.

I started with volunteering with a local childbirth educator instructor in my late teens, became a successful business owner in my early 20s, and have now started Lamb & Latch Doula Services to continue helping and supporting families. I am also an aspiring IBCLC, furthering my education to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and helping women through the beauty of breastfeeding.

As your doula, I bring not only training and support but also compassion, prayerful presence, and a heart anchored in faith. I believe every birth is sacred and that women were created with incredible strength and purpose. My goal is to walk beside you, uplift you, and provide the emotional, physical, and spiritual support you need to feel empowered and at peace throughout your journey. I’m known for my calm, gentle demeanor, and I strive to bring a peaceful, grounding presence to this important and sacred time in your life.

It’s an honor to be part of such a transformative and holy experience — and I’m grateful to serve you and your growing family.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others." - 1 Peter 4:10

Why Choose Me

Choosing a doula is a deeply personal decision, one that can shape your birth experience in powerful ways. As your doula, I offer professional knowledge, skilled support, and a calm, steady presence to help you feel prepared, confident, and cared for throughout your journey.

With training through DONA International, I am equipped to guide you through labor using a variety of comfort techniques tailored to your needs. This includes massage (if desired), breathing techniques, positioning, and other proven coping strategies to help manage the intensity of labor. I also bring along my doula bag, filled with useful tools and comfort items designed to support you, whether that means a rebozo, massage tools, cooling cloths, essential oils, Christian affirmation cards, or other aids to help you feel as comfortable as possible.

Whether you’re hoping for an unmedicated birth, planning to use pain relief options, or keeping your choices open, I will honor your preferences and provide support without judgment.

I believe birth is not something to fear, but something to understand. My approach blends evidence-based practices with compassionate, personalized care. Through education, preparation, and emotional encouragement, I help you release fear and approach birth with clarity and strength.

At the heart of my work is this: I will hold space for you. For your story, your choices, your emotions—wherever they lead. Together, we will move through the waves of labor and the unfolding of motherhood, step by step, breath by breath.

Support for Partners, Too

As a doula, I’m here not just for the birthing mother, but for her partner as well. Birth can be overwhelming for loved ones who want to help but aren’t always sure how.

I provide gentle guidance and reassurance so that partners feel confident, involved, and connected throughout the entire experience. Whether it's offering ideas for physical support, helping them understand what’s happening, or simply giving them the space to be present without pressure, I empower partners to play an active, meaningful role in the birth of their child. In part of my birth package, we go over the 5 Love Languages that are extremely helpful when navigating birth with your partner.

It’s important to know, my role is never to replace the partner, but to support both of you in your unique roles. I come alongside to strengthen your bond, not stand in its place.

Together, we create a strong, unified team surrounding the birthing mother with care and compassion.

"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
